Because many of the visitors to this site are children, we take care that our content is suitable for children. In addition, we take special measures to help children protect their privacy while on-line. For example, we take efforts to prevent children from posting contact information.

As we continue to offer our visitors new and different types of content, we may modify our practices from time to time. However, we will treat all personal information we collect in accordance with the privacy notice in effect at the time the information is collected.

I. The Information We Collect

At Petnebula.com, we collect very little information about each user. Below is a list of the information we require for an account to be created on Petnebula.com:

II. How We Use the Above Information

The real name of a person is required so we may know how many different people have created accounts from your IP Address. Some people think that their IP Address is unique but this is unfortunatly not the case. On Petnebula we only permit one account per person and this information can sometimes help in our investigation into multiple account creators.

A Username is required to be able to login and play Petnebula. The username need not be your real name but an assumed name that nobody knows you by in real life. For example, one of the site owners name is Shelley but she uses the username Bliss.

The display name is much the same as your username but you may play with the letters to make your username appear different to how it actualy is. For example, the username "wishitwaschristmas" could be modified to look like "Wish It Was Christmas".

A Password is required to log into a Petnebula account. The password should not be a real word or personally identifiable to the user. A good password will be 8+ digits long made up of letters, numbers and upper and lower case font. For example "R3b82Pca9" is much better for a password than using "hackme" as a password for an account with the username of "hackme". All Petnebula's uses of your password are in a 32bit encrypted format known as MD5. We never keep your real password on the server in any way other than a 32 digit alfa-numerical encrypted code.

The email address that is provided is verified to ensure that the player submitting it does at least have an email address we can send a new password to if they forget the one they currently have. We have no monthly news letter, so check back regularly to see if there is anything new happening.

We request your country name so that in the future we know where to put servers as we expand. The closer a server is to you, the faster your game experience will be.

We ask for your birthday so we can see what age range Petnebula appeals to most, and is also used in investigations into multiple account creators.

The gender of a member is not important when it is just one member. But we now have thousands of members and if we could see that our member base was 95% female we would know not to use pink for a layout.

We record your IP address every time you connect to Petnebula as an aid to prevent unauthorized access to your account. We also use this information to investigate multiple account creators.

We will disclose information we maintain when required to do so by law, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. We may also disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's or other public agency's (including schools or children services) request, if we feel that such disclosure may prevent the instigation of a crime, or help in the investigation of a crime that has already taken place.

We will not use or transfer personally identifiable information in ways that are different from the ones described above without also providing notification of such practices and obtaining consent for any physicaly different uses.

III. Collection of Information by Third-Party Sites and Sponsors

Petnebula.com has no sponsors and are not associated with ANY third party sites. We have no plans of going down that road in the future either. But in the unlikley event that our policy on this does change we will update you right here on the privacy policy page.

IV. Cookies

Petnebula.com uses a small file that it creates on your computer called a "cookie". The file is harmless and cookies are used in a similar way on millions of websites throughout the internet. The data we keep in the cookie is: your username, your password (In a 32bit data encrypted format), and the time you logged into Petnebula. This information is only used to ensure that it is you that is accessing your account. If you were to look at the cookie yourself you would not recognise your own password as it has become a 32 digit long code that cannot be reverted back to your original password.

We have worked hard to try to provide appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access to data, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect from Petnebula.com.

Parents, please send a letter or postcard to our Privacy Department at the mailing address provided below if you would like to do any of the following:

• access the personally identifiable information that Petnebula.com has collected from your child,
• correct factual errors in such information,
• request to have this information deleted, or
• request that we no longer collect or maintain such information.

Please be sure to include your e-mail address and a telephone number so we can reach you. To protect your child's privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access to the personal information that we collect and maintain about your child.

VIII. Effective Date

The privacy policy set out above is effective as of January 30, 2006, and applies to all information previously obtained by Petnebula.com. Petnebula.com reserves the right to change its privacy policy at its discretion. Petnebula's users will be informed of any such change by Petnebula.com posting a new privacy policy on the Petnebula.com website.
